Shade Sail Blinds is pleased to announce that we are now officially a preferred supplier to Gloucester City Council for the prevision of Shade sails and indoor Ceiling Sails.

Gloucester council contacted us several months back to discuss a prestigious project attributed to the refurbishment of the stunning fourteenth century Blackfriars in the centre of Gloucester. The council’s architects were keen to create a cost effective and multifunctional Café space which allowed them to utilise the room for multiple events when the Café was not in use. The cleaver use of modularised counter tops and hideaway electrical sockets enables an almost seamless transformation from Café to empty room in a matter of minutes. However, the space also needed a design feature which not only added a sense of style but also improved the room’s echo acoustics whilst disguising the dominant metal ceiling beams.

Shade sail blinds were contacted after the refurbishment team’s project managers searched the internet for options which could solve these issues. As Shade Sail blinds are specialists in indoor shade sails / Ceiling Sails and have worked on numerous prestigious commercial, offices, retail and educational projects they were keen to tap into our knowledge base, understand product specifications and have thoughts on their project. After lengthy discussions in which we helped the project management team specify the type of ceiling solutions available, the council placed a national tender for the supply and installation of ceiling sails.

This week Shade Sail blinds has been officially announced as Gloucester City Councils preferred shade sail and ceiling sail supplier, and awarded the contract to supply and fit ceiling sails for the prestigious Balckfriary refurbishment project.  When we asked why we had been chosen the councils reply was that we had provided them with the best design option. A system which could be removed and cleaned without affecting the fabrics inherent fire retardant features.  And also the best value for money.

We would like to say that Shade Sail Blinds is delighted to be associated with the Blackfriary project which will be bringing further life to what is a truly amazing and historical building, right the in heart of Gloucester.
